Why "Psythe"?

Well, when I was about fifteen and had spots,  fantasies about naked women and a love of Black I was also very much into roleplaying (fifteen years later most of the spots have gone).  One of the hidden truths of roleplaying is that if the game is half decent one gets quite attached to one's characters (partially because another of the hidden truths about roleplaying is that we tend to pick characters who are - sometimes rather distant - alter egos of ourselves).

Anyhow, for several years we played Rifts, which is quite a cool scenario if you're fifteen and haven't discovered or aren't smart enough to understand GURLS or pretty much any other alternative to Palladium (the reason our game lasted so long is partially because the GM had the common sense to edit the rule system on the fly).  My character, Psythex, started off as a Glitterboy pilot, went through a couple of weird alter-egos (one of whom was called Psythe) and ended up as The Intelligence Which Permeates The Universe (which just goes to show that sometimes tying character points to XP is a bit limiting) at which point the bastard GM wouldn't let me play him (well, It by then) any more :-)

At some point along the line I started using Psythe as a pseudonym.  It doesn't actually mean anything but it ties in quite nicely with the use of the Greek letter psi as a sig which I rather liked -  I also realised later that it's somewhat symbolic of someone with their arms raised above their head in triumph which is kinda nice and optimistic:
